The Photographic Journey
by, George Kuchler
In the artistic world many artist are asking themselves everyday, "Am I Good Enough"? It doesn't seem to matter whether you are the best in town, just won a ton of awards or you are just starting your career. This simple question has the MOST NEGATIVITY ATTACHED TO IT!
If you know where your talent range is then own it! Make yourself be a brand that isn't like anyone else. We all get inspirations from people who may be more different and better then ourselves, but the true creative will find a way to spin it onto themselves. Look at how many times an original idea has been reinvented. The original creator will continue to earn off of their creations through copyrights and patents, so that lesson of business is obviously important. Surround yourself by those who you admire and you will feel more confident having their support towards your success. The person who gets mad and jealous that other people are copying their work and making money along the way, just tells me that he/she stopped being unique. When you stop moving forward and others catch up then it's time to get creative again.
The age old question of "Am I Good Enough" is truly a question only you can answer. I can teach someone how to use a camera but I will never be able to instill passion and drive!
I have one simple rule every artist should follow:
Stay confident enough to self motivate but never cross the line to becoming an arrogant ass! :)
