I always enjoy capturing the small details with my 100 mm Macro Lens.  The lens cost around $900 but it's worth every penny. The above image is all available light and I'm in love with the sharp clean details of the rings.  When you start getting into macro photography you'll quickly learn how important it is to know your F stops! If you can imagine a straight line like a ruler going side to side on the line you are focusing on, everything before and after that line will be in or out of focus depending on your f stop.  If you choose to use f 2.8 most likely other aspects in your image is out of focus.  If you select an F stop of F 8 or F 16 you'll notice more clear details in the entire image.  Above I have three rings and I'm focusing on the middle large diamond.  The only reason the other two rings are in focus is because I shot this image at f  11 leaving me more in focus area than not.  :)
