Paradise at the Lakefront
The best thing I did years ago to increase my creativity was to schedule a day where I drove around the city and got lost on purpose! I know what you are thinking..."HUH!?" When you are getting stale in your photography you must change it up by creating a new experience for yourself. This will in hand create a newer experience for your clients. We photographers are story tellers. If you don't write a new story, the next up and coming photographer will and you'll lose business. The experience has always been the gold medal to me. I don't believe in "THE BEST" phrase because I'm never satisfied with my own work. Being a creative soul is a state of mind, it's not a fact.
The above image was taken at our New Orleans Lakefront at sunset. The power of photography is being able to tell a story without knowing all the facts like true location, truthful weather conditions, etc. The bride, Jessica, has been a client/friend since she was a little girl. Instead of being super relaxed for her wedding I was the exact opposite. I had something to prove to her and myself, that she deserved the most creative version of me. I always work harder for people I know because I'm always proving my status.
Back to the image above. No Photoshop. One flash on a stand to the left, exposed for thr background while flash exposing for the subject. Off camera lighting 101. :)
