My oldest daughter Julia, was a senior last year when the pandemic was at its peak. She had so many school traditions get cancelled because of Covid-19 so her experience was very different than this year's graduating seniors. The joy of a new beginning can be exciting! Especially when the life around you is normal. Last year was anything but normal. So many nights Elizabeth and I prayed for her to get through that challenging 2020 year and just move on to the college years hoping for better days.
I Know the 2021 parents were doing the same because we all love our children and pray for the best. Last year was the example of EVERYTHING NOT going your way! This year the seniors are still having certain restrictions due to the pandemic issue so it's not over yet. Making the tough decisions like the grandparents can't go to graduation because only 4 tickets per student is allowed. Can you imagine being that grandparent waiting for the day to watch you walk across the stage! The depth of many different ways this virus has had a ripple effect on all of us, moving forward and celebrating our futures just doesn't feel like it used to. Cheers to our 2021 seniors because better days are here and you are leading the way! I have the pleasure of working with these beautiful people for their senior portraits and what an experience this year has been for us!!! We all look forward to the future but most importantly we also celebrate this 2021 class for having the high school experience that was still different yet very much worth celebrating. #NewOrleansSeniorPhotographer #NotTheSchoolPhotographer #Seniors2021 I am so ready to dance and celebrate life here in New Orleans. This past year with the covid restrictions has us all fed up with it. I can't wait for the day when wearing masks was a thing and we can hug and high five again without caution. I believe we will be there soon but until then, get your dancing shoes out of the closet become New Orleans is ready to party!!!!!
For all the men out there, getting ready to turn 25 years married, what are your plans to celebrate? Jim called me with his plans to surprise his lovely wife with a private dinner hosted by my friends at Marche'. The importance of this venue is what is used to be when the couple first connected 25 years ago. Marche' is located in downtown New Orleans in the French Quarter. It used to be a restaurant called Bellaluna's. The single table resting in the beautiful ballroom accompanied by two hired orchestra musicians awaited the couple upon their arrival.
My job was to get his lovely wife's expression when she entered the ballroom. I decided to put a GoPro camera in a flower basket outside on the balcony to get them walking into the front door of Marche. I also put a Canon G7X Mark2 on a tripod aimed at the elevator for when they exited and turned to walk towards the ballroom. I placed myself in the ballroom and waited for the magic to happen. His lovely bride of 25 years was practically in tears of joy as Jim's private dinner design was being unveiled. My job is often stressful when you understand the magnitude of the event happening in front of you. I have learned of the years to create less stress by simply being more prepared in your delivery of coverage. I delivered Jim his video coverage and still images and this was his response... "Wow. You knocked it out of the park. A Grand Slam!" - Jim Absolutely nothing is more important to me than my clients LOVING their final product I deliver. The following are some images taken but the video is a private moment for the couple, so I won't display it to the world. I guess you'll just have to trust me...it's awesome!!! :) After one year of live events being cancelled in New Orleans, we finally had a wedding that could celebrate in the street! Well, at least that's what I told the bridal party...go in the street and take it over like ya mean it. HAHA! It was truly a sight to be seen because all of the cars instead of honking our of frustration , they got out their cars and took pictures with their phones. You can see one right behind the bridal party. EVERYONE IN NEW ORLEANS IS READY FOR MOVING FORWARD!!!
#ByeCovid19 Photographers chase the light wherever it falls for painting the subject in front of them. Light sets the mood of the image as well as shape and contour. I always like the end of the day light for my outdoor portraits of a beautiful bride. Yes, I can work in harsher sun and add off camera flash but why???
The multiple aspects of this image that work so well is the light, color, movement and composition. These rules of portrait order will come to you like second nature the more you work with your camera. This image was one of those moments you wish would happen but never does at your command. The wind blew gently from left to right and created the movement of the veil while adding emotion to the posed image. I love real! I always like to push for movement in my images, but when God gives you the moment it's PERFECT. It's always an honor to be recognized for your hard work and dedication to the highest level of customer service we can offer our clients! Thank you again to "Expertise" for recognizing the hard work Elizabeth and I deal with our wedding clientele. We look forward to working with our beautiful brides this year!
It is Y O U R wedding so make the best of every moment!!! I was so happy to see Nadia and her balloon setup in her moms room. Designing something simple like this gives you a break from the wedding day nerves and allows you to have fun! Besides, it's the best way to create something different than your friends weddings. I find anything unique you add to your decor makes it YOUR wedding. Give yourself permission to have fun like the little girl you once were. Having a youthful heart will always look beautiful in your wedding imagery.
Just like designing your house, the same rules apply to designing your family portrait. An interior designer will look at your living space and find a consistent color tone that works the best. Sometimes You can take a throw pillow and find a single color that you can match for your drapery in your room. That subtle way of tying in colors Is what gives you that rich beautiful custom design look and feel. The outfits you select for your family portrait is the exact same thing!
This is Bonnie and Anil's beautiful family. As I was taking these beautiful pictures I was noticing where all the colors were being tied into and from. Consider Bonnie's skirt as that throw pillow in your living room sofa. She was able to take colors And build a design that truly stands out yet is subtle enough to be tied together. Look at dad's suit and colors and the little man. Look how Anil's shirt color is a specific color In Bonnie's dress. Then notice the ties the boys are wearing with the same color yet different textures. Look at the little girls and find their colors in Bonnie's dress as well. One of the most important things to consider with your outfit is your shoes. Your eyes read an image from left to right and top to bottom so consider your outfit selections accordingly. I always tell people To dress according to the wall you would like to hang your portrait on. If you would like a casual family portrait in your game room then do as you wish and have fun. If you would like to display your family in your Sundays best...Well, just follow the direction of the Ust family portrait above. :) I look forward to helping you create the perfect most beautiful family portrait for your home.
