the importance of shadows
Hello friends. This morning I was driving to school with the girls and I was noticing how cool certain areas around town looked because of the mood it was showcasing. I think so many people are busy trying to find the light, they forget how important the shadows are to an image. Shadows give us shape, texture, mood and symmetry in an image. How you use the shadows will greatly define your image. We have a saying in the pro photog world...FLAT light is FAT light. When you take a picture of someones face with only the flash blasting them from the front, you produce an illusion of a wider looking face, hence "flat is fat". When you create proper shadows on a face you will define their jawline, facial features and they will look thinner.
On our Facebook group page we are posting images of images we like because of the shadows in the image. You should join us and explore the options way beyond just finding the light.
